i am planing to register few domains here according to the local government regulations. previously when i set up this blog website, i didn’t think it’s necessary as it’s very complicated and i only want a place to get my own website set up so that i know how it works and maybe i can even write something down there as record and this place belongs to me and i myself manage it, instead of other platforms, like Weibo, Wechat, etc. provided and maintained by the big companies.
recently i focused mainly on website developing and have written several templates, and probably i will. write more and write better ones, maybe. that means i need some places that provide better availability and performance when i set up the templates and test how they perform. compared with those servers that are outside mainland China, those inside will provide better and faster performance. and if i get a domain registered and verified on some local servers, i will be able to test more and test quicker. i think that’s worth the effort to prepare the documents and materials required for the domain registration. anyway, it’s a must if i plan to do something related in the future as this is the standard procedure if we want to put the domain public and available to everyone. whatever is experienced now will be as advantages when we do similar things in the future, same as life itself.
when that’s done, i will move on with the back-end work to get a better understanding before i continue with the website bettering. i think, gradually, it’s might become a very basic skill for IT personnel to be able to set up a website and maintain its performance. the primary school kids are required to learn programming after all. and as the country puts more efforts to the self-developed OS or system, the requirements in this field will only become general with time passes by. and as general person, we will need to keep learning and sharpening our skills, at least in the fields we are in now, to avoid being left behind too far away by the trend.
